My Client Anne

Anne Kerry Ford, songstress and my client sent me this announcement regarding a community rally in Ojai.......if you live there, this probably means a lot to you. And, if you don't, it should still matter!

STOP THE TRUCKS!

COMMUNITY RALLY, MAY 15TH, 7:00pm CHAPARRAL AUDITORIUM. 414 E. Ojai Avenue

Think traffic is bad now? Imagine 400 additional trucks driving through Ojai, All Day and All Night. Ojai's way of life will be destroyed forever, if Gravel Mine applications in Santa Barbara and Ventura are approved. We are concerned about the Economic, Safety and Environmental impacts upon our community. These applications could potentially put up to 400 trucks a day thru Ojai. That's one truck every five minutes around the clock, including weekends! We must stand up as a community to prevent Scenic Route 33 from being turned into an industrial truck route by Caltrans and both County Planning Departments. Scheduled speakers include Supervisor Steve Bennett; Ojai City Mayor Carol Smith; Ojai Chamber CEO Scott Eicher; Ojai Unified School District Supervisor Tim Baird; Forest Watch Executive Director Jeff Kuyper; Michael Shapiro; Riki Strandfeldt; and others. Moderated by Howard Smith. Please join us and tell all of your friends and neighbors. The only way our voices will be heard is through public outcry and legal challenges. We are fully committed to both. For more information about the mines, or to make a donation or to volunteer time, please contact Therese Hartman at 646-7399 or Dale Hanson at 646-7229. To keep up with all the latest news stories, press releases and activities visit and bookmark as a favorite: http://www.ojaipost.com/stopthetrucks.shtml

Strumming along

And, since we're on the topic, if you're a guitar enthusiast or musician, Anne's husband, Robben Ford, (Grammy winning guitarist) holds exclusive Guitar clinics in Ojai once a year. He's accepting applications for the one-day workshop. Here's the link.

Sorry

Dear B95.1 Countdown Listeners,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of Ventura County's Most Wanted Countdown.

I know, I know. Since I was a little girl, KBBY/B95.1 has had a countdown.
For more than 10+ years, KBBY/B95.1 has had Ventura County's Most Wanted, and now it is over.

This is not a decision made by me, nor is it a decision that will most definitely stick...meaning, there could be a countdown of some sort in the future. Just not the near future. If you have any feelings about losing the countdown, feel free to Email me, and I will pass it along to the appropriate person.

I will also take this opportunity to announce that this week, I will be filling in for Tina, who is filling in for me. Don't ask questions, I don't know how to answer them. This week I will be on from 10AM-3PM.

When things settle down and I know for sure what is happening, you will be the first one's to know.

The Guest DJ Hall of Fame will remain here at http://www.jocelyneonline.com/hof.htm

I just wanted to take this chance to say how much all of you really mean to me. The callers make my job the best, but my guest dj's (my kids and friends) have really kept me going.

As a side note, this has been one of the most difficult years of my life (personally) and yet one of the best years for me, professionally. Focusing on you and the Countdown has distracted me from the ugly side of what I have had to overcome and I would like to say thanks. The countdown was my haven, my distraction, and my guest dj's were my universe. You all allowed me to really do my job well, laugh at the little things and forget about what I had to go through. I thank you all for that.

Letters, mail, email, phone calls are welcome........regarding my shift change or any other things you would like to talk about. Please be nice to Tina this week, she's a great girl.

Jocelyne

Check out Justin

No, not JT, but Justin.tv. It's a guy who's wearing a camera, live, all day, all night and you can watch as he lives his day to day life. It's sorta addictive. Pretty soon, we'll have cameras on our jewelry or wristwatches that can capture video live, and transmit it wirelessly to anyone. This guy, Justin Kan, is transmitting his signal via cell phone signals and broadcasting it through his web site. He wears a camera helmet, and a 40 lb. battery backpack. He lives in San Francisco. Check it out, if you can get in to the crazy busy servers.

KC

Kelly Clarkson's new Single, Never Again will be hitting streets on the 23rd. WE WON'T HAVE IT TIL THEN! That's the update, so stop complaining.

IMust'have Said the Wrong Thing

Honestly, I don't know how he still had a show, I've seen it simulcast on tv. It's the insomniac's secrect weapon, the show instantly puts you to sleep. A REAL SNOOZER. Here's the story.

Alright, I've said some stupid things on the air. REALLY stupid. But "nappy headed ho" isn't even IN my vocab, so I don't know how it would just pop outta his mouth. It must have been sitting there in his head because he uses it regularly. We aren't losing out on much, by his show being cancelled....you should be listening to Bo and Juanita anyway.

April 13, 2007 1:38
Have you logged in yet?!

Every night for the countdown I log in to the B95.1 Chatroom and we count down the songs online as well as on the air. So, if you're trying to win, log in because I tell you what song to identify!
I'm there every night from 7:50 til the end of the countdown

Here's the direct link.

Dog Food is bad for dogs

I know it's not funny, but we were joking about the dog food recall. Here's the link for the dog food recall information. I really do feed my dog people food. He hates to eat dog food. And, he likes what I hate, so it's perfect.....stuff like orange chicken and cooked carrots, yams he loves it! Maybe that's why his face is stained.....see pic from two days ago below.

March 27, 2007 12:28 AM
I love you guys!

Finally, it's the launch of the brand new Guest DJ Hall of Fame. Please check it out! I love you guys. Now, if you've been a guest dj, and you want to be included, send me your picture! Make sure it's ok with mom and dad first!
Sent it to me here Jocelyne@jocelyneonline.com
The chat room for the B95.1 web site is also toward the bottom, so you can chat with us during the countdown on the Hall of Fame page and on the B951.com web site.
Have fun looking at it, I had fun putting it together.
A special Guest DJ roll call thanks going out to CT, Jordie, Kaylie and all my die hard Guest DJ's that really make my job the best!
I love you guys.

My Uncle Eddie

He's a firefighter for the City of Oxnard. Not even a year ago he was working and delivered a baby on a grassy knoll in Oxnard. This week he was in the paper again because he helped douse the RV that caught on fire in Oxnard this morning right on the 101. Here's the article. Sorry if you were caught in traffic this morning! Eddie roks!

Rome was definitely not built in a day

My client and friend John Petermeier and his dad went to Rome and he sent me this cool picture! Check it out. I am so jealous! Here's John's web site. He's a very talented artist and radio personality in Minnesota.

March 16, 2007 1:09 AM

So much cool listener stuff!

Paige is one of my favorite Guest DJ's. She totally took some time to send me this pic of her new dog, Sparky. He's so cute........Thanks for sending Paige, and keep calling in girl!

Nandi is also a Guest DJ.....and she's an artist and a poet! Check out her drawing and her poem. Thanks Nandi for sending! I personally love the part about the colored pencils. Nandi goes to the same JR. High school that I went to, Cabrillo in Ventura. AND, some of the same teachers are still there!

Here's what she wrote:

Once, twice, thrice, I call out your name but you give no answer. Like walking through a dark mist, I cannot see where I am going. I trip, stumble, can't catch my balance. I fall into a dark pool of never ending nothingness. As I fall, I picture me right now, probably with a dazed look on my face. I smile when I think of you, than I wonder where I am. It is like a giant black void, just waiting for someone to create on it. I imagine myself floating in midair, than I stop falling. A light turns on, and I am sitting in a chair, surrounded by millions of colored pencils. I realize my destiny, to recreate an earth how I imagine it. As I start to work, the chair slips from under me, the lights go off, and I continue falling. I can see the hard earth under me, and as I am almost going to hit the ground,--I wake up with a jolt and sit up straight (which is painful because I sleep in a loft) and hit my head. 'It was all a dream,' I think to myself, before drifting off to sleep once more.

I love my job, but I really love it when I get stuff like this. Hope you've all enjoyed.
Smooches!

WeMissBill.com

I'm being lazy......I don't know why. Well, actually I do. I feel so defeated right now.......

Someone stole my Wemissbill.com domain name. It's some shady company and they are using it as a nothing site. When I did some sniffing I found out that it's some company in Gibralter. Wierd. Here's who stole it: FB Solutions Ltd. Suite 206 Neptune House Marina Bay Gibraltar, NA 607 262 2894 SHADY! I just found this out......I can't believe someone swooped in and stole it. They are probably hoping that I have a lot of money and will buy it back from them....these people are called cyber squatters and they are horrible....making money from pouncing on old domain names. You know how it is when you change emails, don't get certain email.....well you can lose your domain names, so be careful. I can't believe it. Well, here's the original site, in it's totality....if anyone cares...sniffle.

· Parking is free and available
· Print out a free ticket by going to Barack Obama's website

All right, here's the info I talked about on my show, I mean, will talk about on my show. I am posting this for you BEFORE I actually mention it.
I don't really announce my preferences on the air toward one party or the other.....but since you're reading this, I do consider myself a very liberal democrat. Hate me, love me, whatever. I don't care what party you belong to......no, really. AS LONG AS YOU VOTE AS AN INFORMED CITIZEN, I don't care what party you vote for.
Anyway, I don't know a lot about Barack, I just know he makes me nervous. He definitely will take some votes away from Hillary......

Happy V-Day

It's Valentines, and I'll be working. FUN! I'll let you know which card shops are open late. Which reminds me of working my ass off at Hallmark back in the day. Sigh....retail is one of the hardest things to do in this world!

Here's why we celebrate Valentines Day.

Awww! My little radio sisters! It's Breana and Jordynn, (where's Jess?!) hanging out and representin' B. Jordynn is the dedicated guest dj with hopes to become a dj herself. And, she most likely will do whatever she sets her mind to. Breana is a breath of fresh air. They both haven't figured out how gorgeous they are yet.
Thanks Girls!

Red Robin Rocks

Sometimes the service sucks, but Red Robin really does have a killer Cobb Salad. And the best Ceasar used to be at the Macaroni Grill, but they've switched it up lately. I don't know if Ventura's changed their Ceasar, but the one in Westlake Village did. I almost always believe in the mom-n-pop places, but the good salads are at the chains. Sorry!

Men of Ojai Calendar

I mentioned tonight that the Men of Ojai are releasing the 2007 Calendar, and yes....they are nude. Here's the link to buy the calendar.
You can also buy them at the following locations:
Garden Terrace Gift Shop
Kava Gifts
Studio Sauvageau
Ojai Rexall

Does this man offend you? He was a commie, a red...shriek!...and Target stores pulled merchandise off their shelves featuring his mass reproduced image. OK, I must admit, I didn't have any idea who he was until I read the article and did some research. Here's what I found.

I feel so bad I haven't updated!
Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Seasons Greetings. And, Happy New Year.

Thanks to everyone who helped me find those Phlat balls for my cousins. I know they'll love them. You can try to find them at Target right now, in Oxnard.....but there were only two left when I was there this past week.

Check out these totally cute Pomeranian puppies that belong to Jason, guest dj for Ventura County's Most Wanted. Aren't they totally cute?!

Gemini Street in Camarillo is really something to see, all lit up with Christmas lights. Here's a map. Go on a full tank of gas, rumor has it, traffic can make waiting time long. It used to be Candy Cane Lane in Ventura that had it going on every Christmas. I still don't know why that ended.

I will be gone on vacation from January 1 thru the 9. YAY!

Tuesday Election Day
There's a nip in the air, enough mudslinging to choke a pig and my voicemail is full of prerecorded messages about a "very important issue" that will "protect our children." Ahhhhh, it's Election Day on Tuesday.....can you feel it? Seriously, I got six voicemails from different parties about propositions in one day alone! As if!
Find your polling place in Ventura County, it's this week!
Here is a list of the local races and props on the ballot.
Please go vote on Tuesday. Every vote counts.

And, one more thing about that while we're on the subject:

This paid political advertisement provided by the Alcohol-Marijuana Equalization Initiative Committee, SAFER Colorado, shows Vice President Dick Cheney. The group that got a referendum on the state ballot legalizing marijuana ran ads in newspapers Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006 targeting President Bush for allegedly challenging his father to fight while drunk and Cheney for allegedly shooting a friend after drinking. I always wanted to work as a teenager, but could never fit it in to my already busy schedule. So, when I did have time, I would accept work through this great organization set up to place teens and youth with businesses and employers. It was always babysitting or house cleaning, and I did make money!

A Program of Youth Employment Service (YES) - Camarillo

Have you seen this girl?

OK, I am not on You Tube everyday. I don't have enough time. But I definitely went there to check out the hype over the summer's hottest vblog. Since June, one video blogger aka lonelygirl15 has been posting a video blog on the web site. After scrutiny about her identity started floating, some amateur sleuths found her real name and whereabouts. She's an actress, cast by three creators who all admit the vblog is phony baloney. A LOT of people were drawn in to watching her blog.....quickly becoming very popular. The creators say that it's a lesson in storytelling. I checked it out. Very entertaining - but clearly not the work of a 16 year old.
Here's her page at You Tube
Here's an article about it all

A Whole Week off!

OK, first off, I apologize for not posting in a while, but EVERYONE needs a vacation once in a while, and I really needed it. I've had a whole week off and it's been great. It went a little too fast, but I did get out of town for a few days. It's the perfect time of year to check out San Diego. I had fun wasting time doing nothing. And, as an alumni Aztec, it's always a little exciting to see my old school.

I feel rejuvenated, refreshed and ready to kick some radio ass on Tuesday. See ya then.
Oh! And Happy Labor Day.

President Clinton's Birthday Card

You can sign President Clinton's Birthday Card online, every year his staff gives him a digital card signed by thousands! He's turning 60 on August 19th, so there's still time to send him a message! I did. I know you miss him.

I love this show

I am going to throw the biggest fit if Noggin stops showing "My So-Called Life" reruns. I should probably just buy the DVD set.

Ventura County Fair

I went out to the Ventura County Fair today and was so excited to meet my favorite guest dj's from Camarillo. You'll hear the girls (Breanna, Jordynn, Jessica and Sammy) on Ventura County's Most Wanted all the time. They will be attending Camarillo High School in the Fall, except for Jessica who will be going to Westlake H.S. and Sammy, who's in elementary. They are so cute!

(Breanna, Me, Jordynn, Jessica and Sammy in front)

You know you love it!

If I am having a tough day, and can't seem to squeeze out a smile, I go here.

Emirates and Pirates are spelled too much alike

Today it's announced that the island pictured to the right is almost completed.
Although the United Arab Emirates is not on my list of top ten destination spots, this crazy island may get me to at least check out the brochure. Did I mention that Donald Trump is opening his own hotel here?
It's crazy, captivating and wierd all rolled into one.

OK, I am making good on this one. Someone called me tonight asking what a particular song was and I am usually pretty good......but I was stumped...I mean, I was like 7 when this song came out. I cannot take the credit, Commander my co-worker named that tune.

My little cousins Tommy and Nicky

My aunt has been adding video of my little cousins online, probably because they are super cute and the whole world should see twins in action. Tommy and Nicky are special though because they are both Autistic, but still never cease to amaze me. It's an older video, the boys are going to be teenagers soon. Watch it here.

Have you seen these?

I never had my own TV when I was little. We were monitored on what we could watch and how much we could watch....downstairs, with my parents. Kids these days have one in their room and I am almost jealous. I had to spend time playing outside, digging holes and making mudpies in the backyard or reading those "old school" paper things that people call books. Anyway, I was at Frye's last week and saw these. Strangely endearing, I must say.

The Shining on the big screen

There's a theater in Ventura that shows movies from back in the day and it's kind of cool to be able to see the old ones on the big screen. Insomniac Cinema is slated to screen Stanley Kubric's The Shining, on August 24th. If you haven't seen it on the big screen, you really must!

Dog Parks in Ventura County
Some cities don't even have one, so we should take advantage of them so they don't close. There are two, one in Camarillo and one in Thousand Oaks.

Camarillo Off Leash Dog Park In Ventura County
If you have never been to the Camarillo Off Leash Dog Park and need directions, use the phone # supplied. The Dog Park is inside of Camarillo Grove Park. Just so there is no confusion, although you are required to pay for entrance at the park, if using the dog park only then there is no fee. Plenty of photos of dogs at the park with their owners.

Dallas Cowboys Training Camp

It's that time of year again.....sweaty men running around in tight pants chasing a ball around a big field. Or, er, almost time for the Dallas Cowboys to come practice in Oxnard. The training camp is at the Residence Inn of Oxnard, taking place daily July 29 and running through August 20. They'll have signings, a museum of football and other family oriented stuff. You can visit their official training camp web site here.

This weekend

So while everyone's in Vegas for the Ultimate Road trip to Las Vegas, I'll be here in town working! But at least it's in Thousand Oaks, and not in 127 degree heat. I'll be at the Neftin Volkswagon of Thousand Oaks at the Thousand Oaks Auto Mall. Come say hi and enter to win prizes, like tickets to the Ventura County Fair and Pirate of the Carribbean movie. I'll be there from 11-1.

Jordan Knight

Yeah, remember him from the New Kids on the Block? Jordan came to town on Friday to sing in our BLounge and he did great. He talked about the old band days, his new music and he also sang one New Kid song and a few of his new ones. He also sang "Tender Love" that old 80's song by the Force M.D.'s. That song brought back so many memories. Anyway, his new album, Love Songs, hits streets on September 12. Preorder it here.

American Idol Auditions

When I was little I would tape record myself acting like a news reporter or radio dj. I would interview my stuffed animals and dollies and perform pretend commentaries on each of my neighbors that I could see out my window. I recently found a tape of myself playing DJ and it makes me laugh, because that's exactly what I ended up doing. It's what you really wanted to do as a child in regular play that can shape what you become as a grown up! Follow your dreams even if everyone things you're crazy and can't do it. So, on that note.......

Do you secretly imagine yourself in front of an audience singing and performing? Are you actually good? Are you interested in auditioning for American Idol?

Do you have what it takes to be the next Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia, Carrie or Taylor? There’s only one way to find out! Season 6 Auditions are in Los Angeles, San Antonio, New York, Birmingham, Memphis, Minneapolis and Seattle. Find out when and where!

I love Morgan Spurlock

Someone needs to give this guy a Nobel Peace Prize. He's a filmmaker (Super Size Me) and documentarian and above all, an ARTIST with film.....dvd (whatever). The second season of his show on FX begins July 26th. It's called 30 days, airing Wednesdays at 10pm on FX.

Rob Thomas was GREAT

Wow, what an artist, performer and entertainer. Rob was at the Santa Barbara Bowl yesterday, and I got to meet him too. You know how you meet someone famous and the person is not what you expected? He's so petite, and polite. What a great guy. His show was absolutely fabulous. Everyone was on their feet, and yes, he did perform a few of his Matchbox 20 songs. Pictures to come.

Your A/C

I always complain about "that smell" that comes from my car A/C....my boyfriend usually lectures me about how I use my A/C all wrong. Some words of wisdom from my boyfriend, the mechanic: (it's a guy thing)

During the winter time when most people don't use their automobile air conditioner it can have deteriorating effects on the A/C system. Vital oils in the refrigerant gas need to be circulated to keep seals and hoses conditioned to prevent premature failure. Most of us don't use our vehicle A/C systems for approximately 3-8 months out of the year depending on where we live, and possibly never, in some areas. This can have devastating effects! And when you finally need it....it may not work due to a soft part failure. So pass this info on...cycle your vehicles A/C system regularly in the off season.

Move over Martha, Racheal Ray's new show

Debuting in September, Racheal Ray from the Food Network will have her own show! I know a lot of people are sick of her perkiness, but I love Racheal, she's sassy, sweet and has a brain. Plus, she can cook. Now that's what I call having it all. Check out her new web site.

Don't be stupid and light fireworks at home. It's just not worth it. Instead go see one of these great professional pyro shows in town. Here's the link.

Bo & Juanita on Vacation

Our shows are jumbled slightly this week. I filled in for Matt Michaels, middays today and Larry Davis filled in for me tonight. I will be back tomorrow night. I missed Ventura County's Most Wanted! Click here to vote.

Star Reynolds Jones Ousted

AWWWWWWWWW. They better replace her with some diversity is all I have to say.

ABC's research showed that Star's "negatives were rising" and "the audience was losing trust in her. They didn't believe some of the things she said." thewashingtonpost.com

Oprah's Show today

Leonardo DiCaprio made a guest appearance on the Oprah show today. He was speaking about fuel efficiency, global warming, and what we can do to change.

So what are the most fuel-efficient cars on the market today? Three hybrid cars: the Honda Insight, Honda Civic Hybrid, and Toyota Prius. What are some different options besides buying a hybrid car? Cars like the Ford Focus, Toyota Eco, or Chevy Aveo get great gas mileage and emit fewer emissions. oprah.com

Fiona Apple at The Greek, Santa Barbara Bowl

OK, I'm officially spoiled. I got to see Fiona this past weekend, twice! She put on two memorable shows, and she seems very matured since the last time I saw her at the Ventura Theater a hundred years ago. The Greek show was only the second show of the tour, but I'd say it was better than the Santa Barbara Bowl. She's great! I wish we played more of her.

She said that "The Way Things Are" was written about an old boyfriend that "said mean things" to her. She also said that we should all "get hip" to guitarist David Garza who accompanied her on "Sullen Girl" totally acoustic. It was awesome.

There were a lot of "new" fans in the audience. I could audibly hear more people singing along to "Extraordinary Machine," off her latest album, than her kick-ass performance of both "Shadowboxer" or even "Sleep to Dream."

Mom of the Year

But, she needed beer........or was it diapers? Probably both.

Dressing Britney

Paris is now giving Britney Spears fashion tips. You know you're in trouble if you're getting fashion tips on "covering up" from Paris Hilton. Since I've never been pregnant, I'm not exactly "schooled" enough to give my opinion. But, a maternity dress seems like it would be more comfortable than cut off jeans. As far as I'm concerned, the girl could wear a paper bag, but the paper bag would have to be from Piggly Wiggly.

Paris Hilton thinks that the cut-off jeans and low-cut top that pregnant Britney Spears wore when she was interviewed by Matt Lauer wasn’t the wisest wardrobe choice. The partying heiress, not known for modesty in her own dress, opines: “She should have worn a really cute maternity dress.”

Match Point

I finally got to see the Woody Allen film Match Point on DVD this weekend. I have decided that, although her acting leaves something to be desired, Scarlett Johansson has a body to die for. The movie was good.....I was expecting more.

Girl in the Cafe - HBO Movies

"The film is a passionate plea to humankind - wrapped in a love story, a comedy and a unique drama. It is a call to arms that shamelessly sets out to entertain, inform and challenge audiences to act. Above all, the film seeks to raise awareness about the important political choices facing the G8 leaders at the next Summit, in Scotland in 2005, and for all of our actions to match our principles."

One of the best films I've seen in a long long time. Definitely worth buying the DVD, it's not airing on HBO anymore. Thought-provoking and heart warming. Watch it. 5 Stars.

Krispy Creme

Since I have been working out like a mad dog lately after quitting smoking, I am not allowed to eat these most excellent donuts. I don't miss them as much as Taco Bell bean burritos, but I had a dream the other night about eating a whole box of Krisy Kreme's even though I am dieting. I woke up and couldn't fall back asleep so I went to the Krispy Kreme site to at least see my long lost friends. I recommend the site, and signing up for the Friends of Krispy Kreme newsletter. It's a monthly released newsletter and sometimes, they include free coupons for free donuts. Just thought I would share the krispy love.......Did you know that Krispy Kreme has NEVER paid one single dollar to advertise? Their success is based purely off word of mouth, not that's what I call good product.
